Transitions
Transitions
Transitions always
struck me as the privilege of the young
A gift from life
of what could be,
The seeds of
change on hungry tongues.
Days marked with
laughter, rush, adrenaline, not time
Nor closing eyes
in the afternoon sun
As fading skies and
love combined.
Life’s shown me
wealth and wonder far beyond my childhood dreams
And I’ve been
guilty, I’ll admit
Of awful things I’ve
done, and said, and seen.
So I resolve to
make mine that transition, which I thought was lost
For young and old
alike can seize
The chance and
fortune life has offered up.
