It didn't use to be this way
"It didn't use to be this way.
Things was different, and yet stayed the same."
A stifled yawn and roll of eyes
As has been so since time was sunrise.
But this young sceptic knows much more
Than his grandfather, fed on such
Philosophies as thought, and reason;
Doubting even what his parents say
Is treason; how can that be so when I have
Learnt so much from what you tried
To stop me ever getting close to knowing?
It didn't use to be this way
But now it's easy and so clear
To see straight through our parents' truth
Which was, remember, handed down to them
From people born a hundred years before.
We're past that now. And yes, I know
These sentiments will come around again.
The difference is I want them to;
Break down, disprove and doubt my thoughts
And make the world your own.
