Nothing
Apparently there's something
in the fabric of the universe
That holds it all together
without really being there.
It seems to be some missing
part of quantum physics theory
And when some boffin finds it
there'll be hats up in the air.
The reason I know all of this
while really knowing nothing?
It was the subject of a
podcast I downloaded on a plane
When I was leaving you behind,
trying to block out the reality
That hits me now;
There's nothing that confirms
when I will kiss your lips again.
Our knowledge and our power is
best defined by what's not there
Which doesn't make it easier
to crawl through one more day.
We know so very little of the
threads which hold this world together
Guided by our instincts,
wanting nothing but to find our way.
They'll work out what it is,
one day, this "dark matter" that they seek
I don't think it'll change the
way we gaze upon the stars.
My only hope is when they do
we find out from a ping
That leaves your phone, and
interrupts our kissing;
To me, compared to that, there
is nothing.
